European Day of Languages 2024
Today across the school, we celebrated European Language Day!
This morning, we had a very special visitor! Mr Stelmaszczyk came in to read us a story in Polish. We started by finding Poland on a map and sharing our own experiences of Poland. We had a choice of 4 stories. Foundation and Year 2 chose to hear 'Superworm' by Julia Donaldson. Year 1 chose to hear 'The Whale Who Wanted More' by Rachel Bright and John Field.
Mr Stelmaszczyk read a page in Polish and our teacher read the same page in English. Mr Stelmaszczyk challenged us to find words that were in same in English and Polish. We found out toffee was the same and acrobat was similar.
A huge well done, you were Focused Foxes as you listened to the story. Mr Stelmaszczyk thought you were in Year 6!
Finally we learnt how to say hello (Cześć!), thank you (Dziękuję) and bye bye (pa pa).
Thank you Mr Stelmaszczyk for coming to visit us today!
