Year 3 and 4 - Art - Artist Study

This term, in Year 3 and 4 we will be creating our own self-portraits inspired by Pablo Picasso's 1937 painting called 'Weeping Women'.

Our big question is: how can colour and shape be used to show an emotion?

Our new vocabulary today was: Cubism.

We found out that Picasso developed a new style of art called Cubism. Cubism is a style of art which uses cubes and other 3D shapes to create a whole picture. The Weeping Woman is an example of Cubism.

We explored how Picasso used line, colour, pattern and texture in the Weeping Woman then we use a medium of our choice to practise some of these elements. Have a look at some of our exploration below. Well done Year 3 and 4 for being Connecting Spiders and Creative Squirrels.
