Year 5 - Trip to Lydford

Year 5 had their class trip to Lydford this week. We were joined by a Dartmoor guide and was shown around the Anglo-Saxon village of Lydford. We learnt all about the importance of the gorge and how it would have been near impossible for the Vikings to reach the village, and how the river was a great form of defence. We explored the church and the castle and discovered that the church used to be a Keep, and the Castle was used more as a prison where prisoners were kept underground!
